OrbitEMRx comprises of the following integrated modules which help automate clinic's workflow.

Appointment & Scheduling

The Rule based appointment and scheduling streamlines the front-office operation by providing an easy to use scheduling system, thus reducing cost and time in managing appointments and saving on answering phone calls. The scheduling module of OrbitEMRx can be integrated easily with the hospital’s public website to provide various appointment related services with the help of which patients can make appointments online or from mobile phones. Patients will be able to view available time slots and doctors’ availability based on specialty. Patients are also able to request online to re-schedule or cancel an appointment. The appointment list, which includes patient’s names, reasons for appointment, date and time, is available at Doctors’ dashboard. Doctors and nurses can open patients’ chart by clicking on list – a convenient navigation option to save time and effort.

Chart Management

Chart Management, the core of the application, provides a comprehensive set of easy-to-use tools to manage patients' medical record – demographics, history and encounters. A physician centric approach of creating and managing charts provides customizable templates, single screen - to make navigation easier, and look-and-feel similar to conventional paper charts to which physicians are accustomed. All records -- including immunization, allergies, family history, social history, physical exams, review of systems, active and inactive medications, lab results, radiology images & reports, referrals and hospitalization -- related to one patient is accessible from one single screen.

Laboratory Order & Result Management

Built on globally accepted HL7 standard, the Lab Order & Result Management module provides a tool to conveniently prescribe, create, and electronically transmit lab orders directly to pathological labs. Lab results can be downloaded automatically and stored within the patients' charts (without manual intervention). A cohesive integration with the patients’ chart allows doctors to view the entire medical records from one single location. This reduces error, save time, and brings efficiency which result in quality care and high degree of satisfaction of patients.

Radiology Order & Report Management

Built on globally accepted HL7 & DICOM standards, the Radiology Order & Report Management module provides a tool to conveniently prescribe, create, and electronically transmit radiology orders directly to radiologist. Radiology report and images in DICOM format can be downloaded automatically and stored within the patients' charts (without manual intervention). A cohesive integration with the patients’ chart allows doctors to view the entire medical records from one single location. This reduces error, save time, and brings efficiency which result in quality care and high degree of satisfaction of patients.

Prescription Management

The built-in Prescription Management tool provides a convenient way to create a customizable list of medicines, write prescriptions, forward electronically to pharmacy (ePrescribing) and manage refills. This decision support system enables doctors to make informed decision by providing information about patients’ allergies and currently active medication right on the same screen which is used by doctors to prescribe medication. This helps reduce prescription error and avoid any adverse drug reactions.

Bed Management

OrbitEMRx Bed Management is a web-enabled, centralized communication and bed control system for each stakeholder who helps patient throughput process: bed managers, nurses, admissions, department supervisors (Ward, ED, OR, ICU, labs) and floor managers. It replaces countless phone calls, pages, and discussions and better monitors the patient throughput process by providing mobile, constantly available views of patient flows and bed capacity from admissions to discharge to all stakeholders involved in the process.

Billing & Insurance

The Medical Billing & Insurance module is fully integrated with the OrbitEMRx to provide healthcare managers with a tool that encompasses all the financial, clinical, and operations elements of successfully running a practice. Patients’ clinical information flows transparently from the appointments all the way to the billing module, thus requiring almost no data entry by the accounting staff. The bill preparation and transmission to insurance companies can be performed by just few easy mouse-clicks. Remittance advices are automatically downloaded from the insurance companies’ server and posted electronically to the patients’ financial records. It also provides ledger view of patients’ financial transaction. The billing module conforms to globally accepted X12 standards.

Document Management

OrbitEMRx is packaged with an integrated Document Management System to enable hospitals to electronically store scanned documents – paper based old charts, lab results, radiology reports, etc. The internal architecture is designed so that users do not need to worry about organizing scanned documents within the patients' charts; it does it automatically, thus, making archival and retrieval a hassle free experience.

Messages & Alerts

An internal communication system built-in with OrbitEMRx has tools to share charts, send email messages within the hospital, and receives notifications and alerts, such as immunization due, new lab/radiology/pharmacy orders, abnormalities in patients’ conditions – e.g. abnormal blood pressure, temperature, and any lab value.

 

Customization

A key feature of OrbitEMRx is that it can be customized for hospitals of any size and specialties. Most importantly, the power is given to the users who can customize the application at their will and whenever they want. Virtually every part of the application can be customized with specialty-based templates and data for each doctor. Doctors will be able to import master data, such as medication list, ICD codes, laboratory test names, etc, into their favorite – true custom list of data to avoid confusion and provide exactly what they need.

Security Management

OrbitEMRx’s security mechanism ensures the highest standard of patient medical data privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the HIPAA regulation. OrbitEMRx provides security management tools to manage user accounts, roles, and audit trails. All transmissions are encrypted handled over SSL.
